A peace place for holidays - Henry's Island

The last weekend was really good for me as I traveled around the West Bengal, such as Durgapur to Kolkata and Kolkata to New Digha (this travel was awesome and unplanned). The best was on 31st December 2009 from Durgapur to Henry’s Island.

Henry’s Island is really a hotspot for picnic & holidays for whom, who likes to live in a peace climate. We leave the Durgapur at 9 am, 31st December 2009 and reach at Henry’s Island at 9 pm. No..its not the 12 hours journey from Durgapur, We have taken rest in between the places such as Shaktigarh (well known for its “Langcha”, a type of sweet), Diamond Harbor (we stop there for lunch), Namkhana (We have to cross the river by the water jetty or vessel), so its take more than 4 hours.

We reach at 9 pm onwards at Henry’s Island. Its around 10mins ride from Bakkhali. There are two rest houses in Henry Island. One is named Mangrove and another one Sundari which is very close to the sea beach. These lodges belong to the Fisheries Department of West bengal I stayed at Sundari. The place was really superb when I saw it in morning. Everywhere trees such as mangrove looks beautiful, the cultivation of fish (chera pona, tangra, galda chingri etc.). An excellent place for relaxation amidst nature. Added pleasure - the wide variety of fish that will be served on your plate as per your request and they are available on time. I most like the tea made by the restaurants, the taste of tea really good and available at Rs. 5/- only per cup.
